Marie Crawley Davenport was born at Hull, England, in 1898 and grew up in Wales. She came to Canada in 1920 and spent the rest of her life in Saskatoon. She took up painting after her children were grown, taking lessons at the University of Saskatchewan and night classes at the Mendel Art Gallery. John Davenport was her son.

Donated by Mrs. H. E. Duggleby and Mrs. R. Coffin in memory of John Davenport, Nutana Collegiate, 1934 to 1938, who died in World War II.
