Wynona C. Mulcaster was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, in 1915. She received a teaching certificate from the Saskatoon Normal School, and a BA in English from the University of Saskatchewan. She received early art training from Ernest Lindner, who remained a strong influence. In 1946, she studied at the Banff School of Fine Art under A.Y. Jackson and H.G. Glyde. The next year she spent a session at the Montreal School of Art and Design under Arthur Lismer. During her long teaching career, she taught in the public school system, at the Saskatchewan Teachers' College, and at the University of Saskatchewan. She attended six Emma lake artist workshops and was a guest artist in 1977. In 1976, she received an MA from the Allende Institute in Mexico, and she retired from the University in 1977. She now lives in San Miguel, Mexico. In 1994, she was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame for her work in founding the Saskatoon Pony Club.
